MABLE SILVERA WAUGH FOUNDATION

About MSW Foundation.

The Mable Silvera Waugh Foundation is a registered non-profit organization established in 2022 to honor the enduring legacy of a devoted philanthropist who believed deeply in the transformative power of education, healthcare, and community development. We envision a progressive Jamaica where every individual possesses the opportunity to reach their full potential, entirely independent of their background, gender, age, or socio-economic standing. Through structured intervention, our goal is to build a just society where marginalized communities are empowered to thrive, and where their voices are meaningfully heard and valued.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower marginalized and vulnerable populations across Jamaica—specifically youths, widows, the sick, and women—by providing sustainable access to quality education, proper healthcare, and viable economic opportunities. By establishing a supportive environment that systematically fosters personal growth, self-reliance, and long-term community development, we give individuals a genuine second chance to break the cycle of poverty and achieve permanent financial independence.

Core Pillars of Action

  • Educational Advancement & Mentorship: We actively fund and implement education and skills training programs tailored for vulnerable groups. This operational node provides technical mentoring, equipment, and resources to institutions offering STEM and vocational training. Furthermore, we deliver specialized parent coaching and guidance for young parents, single mothers, and families navigating unique student learning preferences and styles.
  • Healthcare Access & Medical Assistance: In direct partnership with global sponsors and regional grant holders, the foundation expands vital access to healthcare services across marginalized communities. We provide critical health education alongside direct financial assistance for medications and medical care to individuals managing a diverse range of health issues.
  • Economic Empowerment & Sustainable Livelihoods: We support grassroots entrepreneurship and economic development initiatives designed to foster total self-reliance. The foundation directly assists local start-ups and self-help initiatives by delivering seed capital, material resources, and technical guidance to build sustainable livelihoods.
  • Social Reform & Community Advocacy: Beyond localized assistance, the foundation engages in systemic advocacy to raise awareness about regional poverty, gender-based violence, and institutional gaps. We collaborate closely with public stakeholders and non-governmental agencies to influence national policy decisions, secure increased social funding, and give marginalized groups an uncompromised platform to have their concerns addressed.
